Milling & Reclamation

Pavement

What Is Milling?

Milling is a process used to plane or scarify the pavement surface to an appropriate depth before it is covered with a new layer of asphalt. Once milling is finished and the overlay is completed, the pavement area is completely replaced without the cost or time needed for full excavation. Milling is an excellent way to maintain or alter existing grades, reducing project completion times. However, not all parking lots or roads are suitable for milling.

The Process

Preparation

We remove any obstructions, clean the surface, and assess the condition of the existing pavement.

Milling

We mill the existing surface to a depth of 1-1/2 to 2 inches from curb to curb, removing all broken asphalt and debris from the site and thoroughly sweeping the pavement.

Surface Repair

We inspect the existing base for failed and cracked areas. Any failed areas must be repaired or replaced.

Application

We install 1-1/2 to 2 inches of compacted hot mix asphalt onto the milled surface.

Finishing & Marking

We lay out and stripe the new asphalt pavement according to the existing or newly specified layout.

What Is Reclamation?

Reclaiming significantly reduces haul-away and excavation costs. We can transform your cracked or failed parking area into a reusable bituminous base that will provide added strength to your new asphalt construction. Stabilization turns unstable ground into a hard, cement-like base using a process of water, cement, and lime mixed and pulverized with your existing ground. This approach provides a completely new surface base for the pavement area.

The Process

Grind & Blend

We transform leftover asphalt material by grinding it down and combining it with fresh aggregates and soil. This creates a cost-effective and sustainable solution to strengthen your pavement’s base.
